Owete S. Owete, Ph.D., P.E.

Dr. Owete S. Owete was born May 29, 1950, in Emu-Uno, Delta State, Nigeria. He attended secondary school at Federal Government College, Warri; obtained a PhD in petroleum engineering from Stanford University and a BS and MS in petroleum engineering from Louisiana State University.

Brother Owete obeyed the gospel in August 1982. He and his wife, Derbra, worshipped and were active in personal evangelism at various congregations of the church of Christ in California, Florida and Nigeria. Owete studied with his mother, Obesem Owete, in Nigeria.  She was baptized in November 1984.  That same month, Owete started the congregation in Emu-Uno, and he actively supports the work there.

Dr. Owete is a Florida-licensed professional engineer and a qualified expert witness. He has over 30 years of consulting, teaching and regulatory experience in environmental and petroleum engineering. He provides engineering and hydrological project evaluations, consulting and technical oversight.  Dr. Owete received subcontract and contract performance awards from NASA and Lockheed Martin Space Operations.

Dr. Owete has authored numerous journal publications and two books: “Home Is Not Far” and “Abiding In The Doctrine Of Christ”.
